17-Years-Old Ayush Mhatre’ brilliant inning went in vain, RCB won the thriller match against CSK

On Saturday, Chennai Super Kings’ young player Ayush Mhatre impressed everyone with his outstanding performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In a challenging chase of 214 runs, Ayush played an aggressive yet controlled innings for Chennai. While wickets were falling at one end, Ayush managed to hold his ground and demonstrated why he was added to the squad in the middle of the season. He scored a remarkable 94 runs for Chennai Super Kings, showcasing his immense talent. Despite his excellent innings, Chennai fell short and lost the match by just two runs.
How RCB performed against CSK in this match
MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first against RCB in the 52nd match of the tournament at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite batting first, Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell provided a strong start for RCB, displaying aggressive play right from the beginning. CSK’s bowlers achieved their first breakthrough in the 10th over when Matheesha Pathirana dismissed Jacob Bethell, who scored 55 runs. However, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre held one end while receiving support from experienced Ravindra Jadeja. The two formed a partnership of 114 runs, making it seem that CSK would secure an easy victory.
Unfortunately, Lungi Ngidi turned the tide for CSK by dismissing the promising Ayush Mhatre, who scored an impressive 94 runs. Although Ravindra Jadeja fought hard to chase down the target, RCB ultimately won the thrilling match by just 2 runs. In his first match of this season, Lungi Ngidi bowled exceptionally well, taking three wickets. Romario Shepherd received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding and impactful inning.
With this victory, RCB has reclaimed the top spot on the points table, boasting eight wins out of 11 matches. On the other hand, Chennai, already eliminated from playoff contention, suffered its ninth defeat in 11 games.
