3 Changes KKR Must Do to Get Into IPL 2025 Playoffs

The -led Kolkata Knight Riders’ prospects of making the IPL 2025 playoffs were dashed on Monday after they were defeated by the Gujarat Titans by 39 runs in Kolkata. It was KKR’s fifth defeat in eight matches, and they are presently seventh in the IPL standings with six points. Following this loss, KKR will need to win all six of their remaining matches to secure a playoff position.
Things are not working properly for the defending champions. They are lacking in many phases; the opening partnership between Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine is not working properly, and they bring Afghan wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the previous match against the Gujarat Titans, but he also fails.
There are other important prospects that are lacking in this season for the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders. Their lower middle order is also a questionable thing for them, which does not work properly match after match.
They can still qualify if they win five of their remaining six matches, although the net run rate and other teams’ outcomes may significantly influence this. If KKR wins four more IPL 2025 matches, they will be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they will still have a slight chance.
3 changes KKR needs to make
Promote Angkrish Raghuvanshi to Opening
Raghuvanshi is the young star of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and he can be the upcoming star for Indian cricket. KKR needs to promote him in the opening. We are witnessing that the KKR opening pair is failing match after match. At first, we saw Sunil Narine and de Kock pair fail and in the last match, Rahmanullah Gurbaz also failed to give them a good start.
We have seen Raghuvanshi play amazing innings in the last year when he played at the top order. Even in the last match, he came at no. 9 and played an amazing innings of 27 runs in just 13 balls with a strike rate of 207. KKR management should think of promoting him to the opening, where he can give them a great start.
Bring in Luvnith Sisodia
Luvnith Sisodia is another promising star that KKR has on its team. The hard-hitting wicket-keeper batsman could be a problem solver for the team; he can play in place of Ramandeep Singh, who has failed to provide good finishing in their matches.
Sisodia has a great technique, and he has displayed amazing performance in the Maharaja T20 Cup, where he scored 314 runs in 11 innings with an average of 31.
Get more overs from Andre Russell
Kolkata’s all-rounder Andre Russell needs to step up in this situation; he has been the key player for the defending champions for several years, and his match-winning mentality will be the key factor for them.
Russell is coming very late in batting; he needs to spend more time on the pitch. He can play aggressively from the first ball, but if he gets more time, he can be more effective.
Russell also needs to bowl more overs when KKR bowlers are struggling to get wickets. Russell bowled only 45 balls this year and took 6 wickets in crucial times.
