Mumbai showcased an impressive performance by successfully chasing down a challenging target against Andhra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024/25 season match. The game was played on Thursday, where Andhra set a formidable total of 229/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Mumbai, led by Ajinkya Rahane’s stellar innings, scored 233/6 with two balls to spare, securing a crucial victory in their campaign.

Ajinkya Rahane was the standout performer for Mumbai, scoring a brilliant 95 runs off 54 balls. His innings included nine fours and four sixes, showcasing a strike rate of 175.93. This innings also marked Rahane’s highest score in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, elevating his total runs in the current season to 250. Throughout the ongoing series, Rahane has scored 13, 52, 68, 22, and 95, illustrating consistent form.

The match began with an aggressive partnership from the openers Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane, who added 51 runs in just four overs. Shaw contributed 34 runs before being dismissed. Rahane then teamed up with Shreyas Iyer to add a 55-run partnership, followed by a 54-run collaboration with Shivam Dube. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed when the team score was at 144/3, but his early innings set the momentum for Mumbai’s chase.

Rahane’s innings was critical in bringing Mumbai close to the target, and he was eventually dismissed by CV Stephen in the 18th over. The finishing touches came from Suryansh Shedge, who played an explosive cameo of 30* off just 8 balls, which included multiple boundaries and sixes.
