The latest controversy that is doing the rounds on the social media is about Delhi Capitals pacer Mitchell Starc’s backfoot no ball during the Super Over against the Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Bowling his 4th ball of the Super Over, Mitchell Starc’s backfoot landed on the return crease and the umpires gave it a no ball. However, the latest controversy surrounding this is that the fans on social media have brought-up Mumbai Indians spinner Vignesh Puthur bowling back-to-back balls where his backfoot was outside of the white land.

In few viral posts on social media (name X, formerly Twitter), the users have showcased photos of Vignesh Puthur bowling back-to-back where his backfoot was touching the return crease and was outside the white line.

Many on social media have claimed that the umpires favoured the Mumbai Indians on this instance while many believes that the umpires made mistake.

IPL 2025 first super over

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season witnessed its first super over of the season in the last match between the Delhi Capitals and the Rajasthan Royals.

Batting first, the Delhi Capitals scored 188 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Although Rajasthan Royals got off to a great start in pursuit of the target thanks to valuable contributions from Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana, they eventually also finished with 188 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Mitchell Starc bowled superbly in the last over as he defended 9 runs. He then gave only 11 runs in the super over which then KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs won with ease in the Super Over to make it 5 wins in 6 matches this season.
