Amid the tensions between neighbours India and Pakistan escalating pretty quickly after India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’, this could have a major impact on the cricketing landscape as major tournaments like the Asia Cup 2025, Women’s World Cup and T20 World Cup 2026 are in jeopardy.

India launched a planned ‘Operation Sindoor’ against the Pakistani-based terrorist camps after the horrific Pahalgam attack that saw 26 people lose their lives in Jammu and Kashmir a few days back.

After India attacked nine targeted 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan, Pakistan has also started retaliation, almost declaring War between the two neighbouring countries. Although India has refrained from calling it a War officially but rather clearing out terrorism, this tension between the two nations could have major implications in cricket.

India is set to host a couple of major international cricket tournaments over the next 12 months, starting from the Asia Cup 2025 around August-September 2025, Women’s World Cup in September-October and the much-awaited T20 World Cup in February-March 2026.

However, there are chances that the Asia Cup 2025 could potentially be cancelled or postponed as the tournament is set to be played in India while the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is headed by Pakistani Mohsin Naqvi.

A BCCI official told to InsideSport that the BCCI and ICC are currently monitoring the situation,

We don’t know yet. The situation is evolving, and we still have 4-5 months left for Asia Cup and the Women’s World Cup. There has been no discussion with the ICC regarding shifting the venues or postponing it. We are monitoring the situation and so is ICC. We will take a call when it’s appropriate,” the BCCI official was quoted as saying.
