The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released its annual player contracts for the 2024-25 season, featuring significant updates and inclusions. Key players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have maintained their position in the elite A+ grade despite their retirement from T20Is last year. They are joined by Jasprit Bumrah, making up the four players in the top grade.

The BCCI contract list delineates players into four grades with differing financial incentives. The A+ grade players will receive an annual salary of Rs 7 crore. The A grade, offering Rs 5 crore, includes six players: KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant. Notably, Rishabh Pant has received a promotion to Grade A this year, highlighting his importance to the team.

Grade B, with an annual salary of Rs 3 crore, includes Shreyas Iyer, who makes a return to the contracts list alongside Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shreyas Iyer’s comeback is marked with his placement in Grade B, reflecting the selectors’ confidence in his capabilities.

In Grade C, which features 19 players, Ishan Kishan returns to the contracts list after a previous exclusion. New faces joining the central contract holders are Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Abhishek Sharma, and Varun Chakaravarthy. This grade offers an annual salary of Rs 1 crore.

The BCCI’s 2024-25 contracts underline a blend of experience and fresh talent, aiming to maintain India’s competitive edge in international cricket. The full list includes a total of 34 cricketers, emphasizing the depth and versatility within Indian cricket. With these contracts, the BCCI seeks to reward performance and potential, as well as to strategically invest in the development of emerging talents.
