BCCI Gathers IPL Captains for Pre-Season Meeting

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has summoned all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) captains to Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2025 season’s opening match. The meeting, scheduled for March 20, 2025, will precede the season opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22, 2025.
The pre-season meeting will take place at the BCCI headquarters and include the managers of all ten franchises. It is expected to last for one hour. Following the meeting, there will be sponsor activities at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, which will conclude with a photoshoot featuring all ten IPL captains.
The confirmed captains for the IPL 2025 are Pat Cummins (SunRisers Hyderabad), Ajinkya Rahane (KKR), Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants), Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings), Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals), Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans), and Axar Patel (Delhi Capitals).
The IPL 2025 will consist of 74 matches played across 13 venues, including 12 double-header days. Matches are scheduled to start at 03.30 PM IST for afternoon games and 07.30 PM IST for evening games. The season will culminate with the final match on May 25, 2025.
The first double-header is planned for March 23, 2025, with SunRisers Hyderabad facing Rajasthan Royals in the afternoon in Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings playing against Mumbai Indians in Chennai in the evening. Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will have their debut matches for the season on March 24 in Visakhapatnam.
Additionally, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host its first match of the season on March 25 with a game between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. The playoffs are scheduled to be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata, with Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator on May 20 and 21 in Hyderabad, and Qualifier 2 on May 23 in Kolkata.
