The New Zealand women’s cricket team has announced a significant addition to their squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Australia. Bella James, an uncapped opener, has been selected to join the team. This inclusion comes as the squad prepares for the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 matches scheduled for December 19, 21, and 23 at Wellington’s Basin Reserve.

Bella James has earned her place in the squad following her impressive performance in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, where she scored 293 runs. Her selection has been praised by selector Sarah Tsukigawa, who highlighted her powerful striking ability in recent matches.

The squad’s changes come amidst the absence of two key players. Georgia Plimmer will miss the series due to a bone stress reaction in her left hip, and Lea Tahuhu is sidelined with a grade two hamstring tear.
