Big Bash League (BBL) Winners List Updated After BBL 2024-2025 Final

The Big Bash League (BBL) has emerged as the best T20 league outside the Indian Premier League (IPL). Since it’s inaugural season played in 2011-12 season, the Big Bash League has established itself as a hub for entertainment for many cricket fans.

The Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-2025 season is 14th edition of the tournament that commenced on 15th December 2024 and the final match was played on 27th January 2025. The league entertained the cricket fans with intense cricket action over a month and it all came down to the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Thunder in the BBL 2024-2025 Final.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder BBL 2024-2025 Final Match

The Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-2025 season final match was played between the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Thunder on 27th January, 2025. The Hurricanes finished at the top of the points table while the Sydney Thunder finished 3rd and beat Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers in the playoffs to reach the final.

Hobart Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis won the toss and opted to bowl first. But Thunder opening duo captain David Warner and Jason Sangha. The duo added 97 runs for the opening batter. Warner scored 48 runs while Jason scored 67 runs. But, other than the two, no batter could make significant contribution, setting the Hurricanes a target of 183 runs.

And the Hobart Hurricanes made it a cake walk for themselves chase to the target. A massive credit for that goes to the league’s best batter this season, Mitchell Owen, who smashed a century off just 39 balls. Owen scored 108 runs while chasing a target of 183. Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott also added runs to help the Hurricanes over the line and win the BBL 2024-2025 final by 7 wickets.

BBL Winners List from 2011-2025

This is the first time that the Hobart Hurricanes have won the Big Bash League title, in their 2nd attempt. They failed to win the league when they last reached the final in the year 2018. This will be a memorable first title for the Hobart Hurricanes.

They finds themselves among some of the best teams in the league now. Perth Scorchers is the record champions of the league having won the title a record 5 times. Then is the 3-times champions Sydney Sixers, who also won the first season of the BBL in 2011-2012 season.
