Breaking: Jitesh Sharma was set to lead RCB vs LSG before IPL 2025 suspension

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma has made a big revelation. The wicketkeeper batter was set to replace Rajat Patidar as RCB captain in IPL 2025 before suspension.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign was suspended on the same day as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were set to take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday, May 9.
Meanwhile, RCB wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma has revealed that he was set to replace Rajat Patidar as RCB captain for the side’s next two matches vs LSG and SRH after regular captain Rajat Patidar was deemed not fit due to a finger injury he sustained vs CSK.
“I was very grateful for the opportunity given to me,” Jitesh Sharma said on RCB Bold Diaries. “They were giving me an opportunity to captain RCB and it’s a very big thing for me and my family. I was thinking of what the right combination would be because both Devdutt [Padikkal] and Rajat were not available, and it was a big responsibility to replace them,” he added.
He also added that he had a meeting with the coaches and players, thinking about the batting order and having a discussion with the bowling unit.
“And as per the position we were on the points table, we would have won this game. All of this was going on in my head and all the meetings with coaches and players in those two-three days, batting order, discussions with bowlers. I had good fun,” he continued.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru is looking in great position this year to mount their claim on their first ever IPL title.
As of the suspension of the IPL 2025 due to the tensions between India and Pakistan, RCB currently sits 2nd in the points table with 16 points, same as top of the table Gujarat Titans, but behind them on Net Run Rate (NRR).
