Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England. Some surprising things happened today.

Mohammed Siraj failed to find a spot on the team. His ODI records are impressive, as he took 71 wickets in 44 ODI matches. His best bowling figures came against Sri Lanka in the 2023 Asia Cup final. He shocked the Sri Lankan team by taking 6 wickets in 7 overs. Still, he failed to find a spot on the team.

When media persons asked Indian skipper , he said, “Mohammad Siraj is not effective, and his effectiveness comes down when the ball gets older.“.

Siraj’s recent performance is also falling. In the recent BGT Trophy 2024-25, he took only 20 wickets in 5 Test matches.

Samson and Chahal are also not included in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad

Several players are not part of this squad. One of them is Sanju Samson, who is supposed to be facing a BCCI inquiry to show himself as unavailable for a preparatory camp of the Kerala team ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. There are direct messages for Indian players from the BCCI to participate in the domestic cricket leagues, but still, Sanju ignores them.

Samson played 16 ODI matches; he scored 510 runs with an impressive average of 56.66. but still failed to find a spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad.

The selectors also excluded Yuzvendra Chahal from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. He recently came in media reports due to his personal life. Some reports claim he divorced his wife, Dhanashree Verma. Chahal played 72 ODI matches for India, where he took 121 wickets.
