CSK Player Suffers Injury in SA20 After Ball Hit Him; Remains Doubt for IPL 2025

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Devon Conway recently suffered a blow in the ongoing SA20 league while representing the CSK sister team Joburg Super Kings. Conway had to walk-off the pitch with blow vs the Pretoria Capitals.
The match number 24 of the ongoing SA20 2025 season is being played between the Pretoria Capitals and the Joburg Super Kings at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. The hosts Capitals won the toss and asked the Joburg Super Kings to bat first.
Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis opened the inning for the Joburg Super Kings. However, not long before, a cracking shot Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis hit Devon Conway hard on his right forearm. The New Zealand batter was in severe and eventually couldn’t and had to retire hurt.
However, the moment of relief for many Super Kings fans in South Africa and India was when Conway walked back onto the pitch in the 8th over. However, he lasted only 3 balls before he was dismissed by Capitals debutant Gideon Peters.
While it was a great moment of relief when Devon Conway back onto the pitch, he still looked in trouble and could only 3 balls before he was dismissed. This now raises many doubt over the left-hand batters future with the CSK in the IPL 2025.

Devon Conway for CSK in IPL
Devon Conway made his IPL debut in the year 2022 while playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Since then, he has remained an integral member of the Stephen Fleming coached side.
The Kiwi batter already missed IPL 2024 due to injury and he has so far played 23 IPL matches in which he has scored 924 runs with an average of 48.6 and strike rate of 141.3.
IPL 2025 Replacement Options
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might be worried about the Kiwi batters current addition and would be keeping close tabs to development in South Africa. However, CSK have plenty options available as replacement.
CSK already have Rachin Ravindra in the squad who can get great game time if Conway is unavailable for the IPL 2025. Otherwise, the franchise could look bring someone new.
One option would be England’s left-handed aggresive batter Ben Duckett, who has been in great form recently. Other options includes the likes of Mitchell Owen, the star of the Big Bash League 2024-2025 season, or Matthew Short. Meanwhile, recently retired David Warner would be an ideal replacement option.
