CSK Tryout Virat Kohli Fanboy as Opener Ahead of SRH Match

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been trying various ways to get out of the trouble they are in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Recently, the side trial batter Vansh Bedi at the opening spot ahead of the do-or-die match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batters have been mostly out of form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season and is a big reason why the Super Kings currently sits at bottom of the points table with just 2 wins in first 8 matches.
Under MS Dhoni’s leadership after the injury ruled out regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK have been trying out different players with the likes of Shaikh Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre getting opportunities.
Now if the sources are to be believed, CSK could unleash another new face in their game against SRH on Friday. Sources suggest that CSK tried-out Vansh Bedi as a opening batter in a behind closed doors practice match.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad injured, CSK have only Rachin Ravindra as an out-and-out opening batter with Shaikh Rasheed slotting in the last few matches while Devon Conway is currently unavailable due to personal reasons.
Although Shaikh Rasheed has impressed many, but there is a lot of improvement to be found, in such scenario, CSK have tried out Vansh Bedi as opener in the practice match ahead of the crucial Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match.
Who is Vansh Bedi ?
Vansh Bedi is an explosive wicketkeeper batter and has very quick reflexes behind the stumps. He was brought in as a backup to MS Dhoni and potentially a future successor.
Vansh made the headlines in his very first professional match of his career in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 season while playing for the Purani Delhi-6. He scored 47 runs off 19 balls in his debut match while batting in the middle-order.
Throughout the campaign, Vansh played some beautiful cameos including 30 runs off 18 balls vs West Delhi Lions, 27 runs off 12 balls vs South Delhi Superstarz, but the best moment from Bedi’s campaign came in his final match for side against the East Delhi Riders where he scored 96 runs off 41 balls, showing his true class and ability to hit the ball really hard.
Vansh Bedi finished the inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 season having scored 221 runs in 8 innings with a strike rate of 185.71. Thanks to his impressive campaign, he came into the limelight and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured the wicket-keeper batter’s service for the IPL 2025 season.
