Cummins, Head, Miller, Rabada Not Retained Ahead of MLC 2025 Draft

Major Cricket League franchises announced their retention ahead of the draft of upcoming season on 19th February, Wednesday. The star players like Pat Cummins, Travis Head, David Miller and Kagiso Rabada were the big names missing in the retention draft that have been confirmed by the franchises.

Washington Freedom release Travis Head:

Washington Freedom, the winners of the previous season, released Travis Head, the joint highest run-getter along with Steve Smith. It was a big surprise for the fans, as the left-handed cricketer played a crucial role during the title winning campaign.

San Francisco Unicorns release Pat Cummins:

The runners up of the previous season, San Francisco Unicorns parted ways with Pat Cummins along with their hard-hitting batters Finn Allen and Jake Fraser-McGurk as well.

Seattle Orcas retained South African duo:

Seattle Orcas have also come up with competitive decisions as they released Quiton de Kock ahead of the tournament draft. Meanwhile, they retained the South African duo Ryan Rickelton and Heinrich Klassen as both the batters seemed to be in great form in the other leagues.

MI New York release South African Pace combo:

MI New York also took a brave decision by releasing South Africa’s pace sensation Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. However, the winners of the inaugural season will continue to have the services of Kieron Pollard alongside Trent Boult, Rashid Khan and Nicholas Pooran.

LA Knight Riders release David Miller:

LA Knight Riders also made quite a surprising move on the cards as they released South Africa’s hard-hitting batsman David Miller. They have retained only three overseas cricketers Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Spencer Johnson which is nothing to get surprised.

Texas Super Kings retained opening combo:

Having a look at Texas Super Kings, they have released Matheesha Pathirana, Daryl Mitchell, Naveen-ul-Haq and Mitchell Santner ahead of the tournament. Still, they will rely on the likes of Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway who are expected to open the innings for their side.
