After 5 back-to-back defeats, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally bagged their 2nd win of the season against an in-form Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). But the result could have been had LSG skipper Rishabh Pant allowed Ravi Bishnoi to complete all his 4 overs.

Ravi Bishnoi with his clinical leg-spin/googly bowling had kept the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) alive in the contest despite CSK having scored 52 runs for the opening wicket in pursuit of 167 runs.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were in much better form coming into this match, winning all of their last 3 matches. However, the side struggled in this match. It’s top 3 trio of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran failed in the match. Captain Rishabh Pant’s 63 runs inning helped LSG to post 166 runs on the board.

While chasing 167 runs, Chennai Super Kings got off to a flying start with the duo of Shaikh Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra adding 52 runs for the opening wicket in 5 overs. However, the course of the game changed when Ravi Bishnoi was brought into the attack.

Bishnoi first got the wicket of Rahul Tripathi in the 9th over and then dismissed Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th overs. However, that was the last that was seen of Ravi Bishnoi with the ball in this match. Captain Rishabh Pant only allowed Bishnoi to bowl only 3 overs where he conceded 18 runs and took 2 wickets. One more over and things could have been different for LSG.

Meanwhile, Bishnoi has reacted to the same when he was asked about not completing all of his 4 overs vs CSK during the press conference. Ravi Bishnoi said, “I didn’t really talk to Rishabh about it, but I went to the wicket a couple of times (to check) and I think he had plans in place he wanted to execute. In such situations, the captain is better placed, and he keeps wicket, too, so he understands things better.

He continued, “According to me, he took the decision he thought was better. He was clear in his mind and it’s better in such tense situations that the captain thinks with a clear mind.

Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni won the match vs CSK

After Ravi Bishnoi got the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th over, LSG got the wicket of Vijay Shankar a few balls later. But then arrived to the crease CSK captain MS Dhoni. Dhoni joined Shivam Dube and the duo absolutely guided the team towards the victory.

Shivam Dube played risk-free cricket scoring 43 runs off 37 balls while MS Dhoni did the finishers job well. The CSK skipper scored 26 runs off 11 balls with a strike rate of 236.36. This was only CSK’s 2nd win of the season with the other win coming in the very first match against Mumbai Indians.
