Eoin Morgan: Future India Captain Should Have Been Picked Over Yashasvi Jaiswal for ICC T20 World Cup Squad

India has announced their squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and the team includes many expected players. Rohit Sharma will open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who didn’t have a great season with the Rajasthan Royals. Apart from scoring one century, he didn’t seem very confident.
Shubman Gill, another potential opener, has been placed in the reserve category along with , Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed.
Eoin Morgan, a former England and Kolkata Knight Riders player, pointed out a major omission from India’s squad for the tournament, which will be held in the West Indies and the United States.
Eoin Morgan Critiques India’s T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Selection
Morgan believes Shubman Gill would have been a better choice than Jaiswal. He said, “I would have chosen Shubman Gill over Yashasvi Jaiswal. I’ve played with Gill and know how well he prepares and thinks about the game. He’s the future captain of India and is valuable in pressure situations. Even if he was on the bench, his presence alone would inspire the team.”
Gill led the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024, but the team did not make it to the playoffs.
