Former Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings batter and captain Mayank Agarwal has been in exuberant form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-2025, a 50 overs format played between all the domestic state cricket teams in India. But, the player has been rejected by all the IPL 2025 teams.

Mayank Agarwal Scored His 4th Century

Karnataka state cricket team’s captain Mayank Agarwal has been in excellent form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring tons after tons. He most recently converted his 4th century of the campaign in Karnataka’s last group phase match against Nagaland.

Karnataka beat Nagaland by 9 wickets while chasing a target of 207 runs. Karnataka successfully chased 207 runs target with captain Mayank Agarwal scoring 116 runs himself off 119 balls. Aneesh KV played a great supporting role alongside Agarwal.

Meanwhile, with this century, Mayank, an India international, has now scored a grand total of 4 centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-2025. It all began when he scored 139 unbeaten vs Punjab and then scored another unbeaten 100 runs vs Arunachal Pradesh.

He made it three back-to-back centuries with his third century of the campaign vs Hyderabad as he scored 124 runs. And then finally he added his fourth century yesterday against Nagaland and remained unbeaten after scoring 116 runs. This has brought his grand total for the tournament to 613 runs at an average of 153.25.

Agarwal remained unsold during IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Mayank, who has been in such great form now just two months prior to the IPL 2025, unfortunately the former Punjab Kings captain won’t be a part of the IPL 2025 as he remained unsold during the mega auction.

Mayank Agarwal’s numbers in the IPL has just continued to decline over the past couple of seasons and as a result, he didn’t find any suitor in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The last time that Agarwal had a great season with the bat was when he was still with the Punjab Kings, it was IPL 2021 edition when he scored 441 runs in 12 innings with a strike rate of 40.09. Since then, Mayank has only one 200+ runs season (270 runs in 10 innings), it was in 2023, but it was not so convincing with a strike rate of 128.57 and average of 27.00.

In the IPL 2024 season, he mostly remained on the bench. Agarwal only played 4 matches with the and scored only 64 runs with a strike rate of 112.28 and average of 16.00.

With that win for the Karnataka team, they have now qualified for the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-2025.
