Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has expressed his belief in the prowess of Indian stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, particularly highlighting their significance in white-ball cricket. Despite recent struggles in the Test format, Kaif underscored their critical roles in India’s campaign in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Kaif praised both Rohit and Virat on his YouTube channel, describing them as “great white-ball cricketers”. He emphasized that the Indian team would heavily rely on their leadership and batting skills to perform well in the Champions Trophy scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025.

Since making his ODI debut in 2007 against Ireland, Rohit Sharma has amassed 10,866 runs across 265 matches with an impressive strike rate of 92.43 and an average of 49.16. Similarly, Virat Kohli, who debuted in 2008 against Sri Lanka, has an enviable record of 13,906 runs in 295 matches with a strike rate of 93.54 and an average of 58.18.

Both cricketers are nearing the later stages of their careers, with Kaif suggesting it might impact their long-term play in international cricket. However, he remains optimistic about their contribution to India’s success in the Champions Trophy.

This edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will be hosted by Pakistan and UAE, adopting a hybrid model for the games.
