Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has pointed out the veteran duo of current India captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli as the standout and key players to watch out for as India set to commence its hunt for another Champions Trophy.

The Indian cricket team will play their first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 vs Bangladesh on 20th February at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Team India is looking to bring the Trophy home since last winning it in 2013 and lost to Pakistan in the final of the 2017 edition. Although India will miss the services of pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, BCCI have named a strong squad that can challenge for the title.

Meanwhile, former India captain Sourav Ganguly believes that India’s duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be team India’s key player.

Speaking exclusively on RevSportz, Ganguly said, “He (Virat) is playing very well, there is no question about it. He will be India’s strength and key player along with Rohit Sharma. Rohit is also equally important. His form is important. I hope the entire team will stand up and perform.”

As team India will play Pakistan in their 2nd group stage match on 23rd February, Ganguly believes that the Pakistani pacers won’t trouble the Indian batters, especially Kohli and Rohit, “these guys are good enough to do it,” stated the former India captain.
