It no big surprise anymore that Indian cricket team’s captain Rohit Sharma is set to be dropped from the playing XI for the 5th and the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 Test match vs Australia.

Rohit Sharma’s place in the Indian team was up for debate for long which seems to have now settled down as the 37-years-old Indian captain is set to be dropped from the playing XI.

This decision has been influenced by Sharma’s poor run of form in the ongoing Test series vs Australia where the T20 World Cup 2024 winning captain has scored only 31 runs in 5 innings for Team India prior to the 5th Test.

However, that’s not the only thing that has played a role to the downfall of the Indian captain’s exclusion from the team. There has been questions over Sharma’s leadership ability as well as many cricket experts and cricket fans have expressed discomfort about the Indian captain’s leadership qualities.

Gautam Gambhir rejected proposal to keep Rohit Sharma in the playing XI

With Rohit Sharma set to be dropped for the 5th Test, the PTI has now made a big disclosure that a prominent cricket administrator made an approach to Indian team Head Coach Gautam Gambhir to keep Rohit in the playing XI for the 5th Test, which the former India international has reportedly rejected.

India vs Australia 5th Test

The 5th Test between the Indian cricket team and the Australian team is to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney from 3rd January, 2025, Friday. The match is scheduled to begin from 5 A.M Indian Standard Time (IST) unless any rain interruption or any kind of delay.

Australia now lead the series 2-1 after winning the 4th Test in Melbourne and is at the brink of winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after more than a decade. However, team India is adamant to win the SCG Test which will ensure it ends 2-2, as a result, Team India will keep the trophy again.
