GT Released Players 2026: Five Players to be Dropped after IPL 2025

The Gujarat Titans had a fantastic campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The team finished in 3rd place in the points table. But unfortunately they lost to Mumbai Indians in the eliminator.
There were lot of positives for the Titans. Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler were fantastic with the bat. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore impressed with the ball. Besides the positives, there were some negatives too.

Rahul Tewatia
Lower middle-order batter Rahul Tewatia could be one of the players in the GT released players list before 2026 season. Rahul played 12 innings and scored only 99 runs. His best performance this season was 24 runs vs Rajasthan Royals. Because of his batting order, he didn’t get many balls to play. He also doesn’t bowl, so he doesn’t suit in GT’s line-up right now. If that’s the case, Rahul Tewatia could be in IPL 2025 GT dropped players list.

Gerald Coetzee
Gujarat Titans signed South African pacer Gerald Coetzee for INR 2.40 crore. However, he featured in only 4 matches and took just 2 wickets. He has been very expensive, conceding close to 11 economy rate. His performance in the eliminator vs MI, conceding 51 runs, might just make it easy to include the player in GT released players ahead of 2026 auction.

Ishant Sharma
Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma was signed for INR 75 Lakh. While it is great to have an experience player like him in the squad. But he was an important member of the squad, playing 7 matches, but took just 4 wickets. If Gujarat Titans want to have an important pacer in the squad, then Ishant Sharma might not be part of IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans squad update.

Kagiso Rabada
Another South African pacer who could be in GT team changes for 2026 season is Kagiso Rabada. GT signed him for 10.75 crore in the auction. But he only featured in 4 and missed big chunk of the season due to personal reasons. In those 4 matches, he picked 2 wickets and had an economy rate well over 11.
He seem to don’t suit the Narendra Modi Stadium venue. His pace only further exposed him and lacked that X-factor in him. Gujarat might want to explore new options in IPL 2026 Auction. So expect Kagiso Rabada to be included in IPL 2025 GT dropped players list.

Kusal Mendis
Another player who should be part of GT team changes for IPL 2026 season is Kusal Mendis. The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batter was included as replacement of Jos Buttler. He featured in only the eliminator match vs Mumbai Indians. Although he scored only 20 runs at 200 strike rate, he got out hit-wicket.
He also dropped a valuable catch of Rohit Sharma which proved costly. Also the IPL rules states any player who joined a team after the IPL resumed on May 17, after the India-Pakistan tensions, won’t be available for retention. So even if GT want, they can’t retain him Gujarat Titans player release list ahead of IPL 2026 auction.
