Gujarat Titans are set to face Mumbai Indians in the ninth match of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 29. Both teams are aiming to secure their first win of the season after facing defeats in their respective opening matches.

In their first outing, Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, faced a tough 11-run loss against Punjab Kings. The Titans were tasked with chasing a daunting 244-run target but fell short, finishing their innings at 232/5. Key performances included Sai Sudharsan’s impressive 74 and Jos Buttler’s 54. Sherfane Rutherford contributed 46 runs but struggled against the bowling of Vyshak Vijay Kumar.

The Titans will need to address their bowling strategy, especially towards the end of their innings. The 87 runs conceded in the last five overs, including the 23 runs given away in a single over by Mohammed Siraj to Shashank Singh, proved costly for them.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, led by Suryakumar Yadav, succumbed to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. They only managed to post 155/9, a target that CSK successfully chased. Vignesh Puthur was the standout bowler for Mumbai, securing figures of 3/32 in his debut IPL match.

Mumbai Indians did not have their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya for their opening match due to a one-match ban, but he is set to make his return against Gujarat Titans. His comeback is expected to bolster Mumbai’s batting lineup. The team also hopes for a stronger performance from Rohit Sharma, who was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the first match.

The match promises to be an exciting contest as both teams seek redemption. While Mumbai Indians aim for a stronger batting display with Hardik Pandya’s inclusion, Gujarat Titans are focused on tightening their death bowling to curb the run flow from their opposition.
