The English Batter Harry Brook has withdrawn from the IPL for the second time in a row. He will not play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL edition. In the IPL 2025 Auction, Delhi Capitals acquired him for Rs 6.25 crore. Now, there is a high chance that he may face a two-year ban from the IPL. Because the IPL franchises were very upset with players withdrawing from the IPL at the last minute. So, IPL officials added a new rule for IPL 2025. According to the new rule, any (overseas) player who registers for the IPL auction and, after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season will get banned from participating in the IPL auction for two seasons.

However, this rule does not apply if the cricket board of the concerned player informs the IPL officials regarding the player’s injury. But officials have not yet revealed any reason for Brook’s withdrawal.

This is the second time that Harry Brook has withdrawn just before the start of the IPL. Last year, too, after the death of his grandmother, he decided to spend time with his family instead of IPL. Now it will be a bit difficult for Delhi Capitals to suddenly find his replacement. Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants on March 24.
