“He doesn’t work hard” – Harbhajan Singh’s bold statement on Abhishek Sharma after heroic England series

Abhishek Sharma has become the talk of the town after his scintillating performance in the recently concluded T20I series of India vs England. The young lad featured in all five matches for India as he went on to amass 279 runs for his team.

However, Abhishek Sharma caught the limelight after his fabulous knock of 135 against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. His innings also grabbed the attention of the former Indian cricketer, Harbhajan Singh who urged the 24-year-old to focus on his bowling as well.

Harbhajan Singh shared a lot about Abhishek Sharma on his YouTube channel, saying “I would like to see him bowl more. Right from the beginning I have been telling him that his seam position is very good. He doesn’t work as hard on bowling as he does on batting.”

“Even today whenever I meet him I tell him about his bowling because batting is his first love, he will definitely work on that. He can work on his bowling, he has all the qualities required to be a good leg spinner,” he further added.

Harbhajan Singh claims that Abhishek Sharma has all the qualities of a leg spinner and wants him to work hard on his bowling skills as well. Moreover, the off-spinner also compared him with the greats of Virender Sehwag, Viv Richards and Travis Head as they used to take the game forward right from the start.

“On his day, he just takes the game away. Travis Head does it, Virender Sehwag used to do it, Viv Richards used to do it. These kind of players are the ones who take the game forward. Today or tomorrow, his chance will come in Test cricket. You always need a player of the Sehwag mould in Test cricket who comes, smashes, and takes the game away. That can be Abhishek Sharma,” added.
