With question marks over Virat Kohli and his future in the Indian Test team amid is struggles right now, former Australian captain Michael Clarke has come out in support of the Indian star batter, stating that if he was Indian team captain, he would fight for Virat’s inclusion in the team.

There were a lot of expectations from Indian cricket team’s star batter Virat Kohli in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025 edition vs Australia.

However, it was a rather disappointing series for the 36-years-old. Virat Kohli struggled to score big and was several times dismisses while playing balls outside off stump, for which he was criticised a lot.

During the entire series, Virat Kohli scored only 190 runs in 9 innings with an average of just 23.75. This is made to look even worse when you know the fact that Kohli began the series with a century in the 1st Test match in Perth.

Now there is question marks over of the future of Virat Kohli and his place in the Test team. But, at this time, former Australia’s World Cup winning captain Michael Clarke has come out in support of Kohli.

Talking on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke understood that Kohli has failed to deliver recently when the team needed him the most, but he backed him by saying that Kohli has the ability the turn things around very quickly.

“He is Virat Kohli and this guy can score a double hundred tomorrow. He should be allowed to play and if he retires from Test format, it will impact India and not him,” Clarke said.

He also noted that if he was the captain of Virat’s team, he would fight for the star Indian batter even though he hasn’t scored many runs. “If I was captain of Virat Kohli’s team, I would fight for him despite knowing the fact that he hasn’t scored runs in Test cricket,” said the former Australia skipper.
