After a much needed win in their last match against the hosts Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have kept their hopes alive for making it to the IPL 2025 playoffs, although it’s a long stretch.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted last season’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a very crucial match-up at the MA Chidambaram Stadium with the losing team out of the race for a place in the playoffs.

CSK were all-out for 154 runs on a surface which had assist for the slow bowlers and spin bowlers. SRH in the end won the match by 5 wickets with Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributing with key runs.

Meanwhile, after the crucial win vs the CSK where Kamindu Mendis’ ability to bowl with both hands came into effect taking a wicket, SRH head coach Daniel Vettori was asked about which left-arm orthodox spin bowler has impressed him the most.

He named Mumbai Indians’ Mitchell Santner, CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja and Punjab Kings‘ Harpreet Brar and in the end mentioned about Gujarat Titans’ left-arm orthodox spin bowler Sai Kishore.

“I’m trying to think, Santner’s obviously been fantastic for Mumbai, Jaddu [Ravindra Jadeja] here, Harpreet Brar has got a few opportunities with Punjab. Remind me who the rest are who’s been playing? Sai Kishore’s been the pick [of the bowlers]. He has been fantastic, I think,” was Vettori’s initial remark.

He continued to add that Sunrisers Hyderabad were eager to get Sai Kishore into the team for IPL 2025 season, “He was a guy that we looked at very closely in the auction and wanted him in the team. He has all the attributes of a very good limited-overs bowler.”

Sai Kishore has been playing for the Gujarat Titans since joining them in their inaugural season in 2022. There was a bidding war between SRH and Punjab Kings for Sai Kishore with PBKS having a deal at 90 Lakhs. But GT decided to use RTM card after which the Punjab Kings decided to raise the value to 2 crore and GT still used the RTM card to keep hold of the former CSK man.

Harshal Patel shines vs CSK

Harshal Patel made light work of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batters in the IPL 2025 match-up. Harshal made most of the slow surface at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and the India international bagged 4 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs.

Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat also bagged 2 wickets each while Kamindu Mendis and Mohammed Shami got 1 wicket.

Abhishek Sharma had an off-day with the bat as he was dismissed for duck in the first over Travis Head scored 19 runs while Heinrich Klaasen also failed. But Ishan Kishan played an important innings of 44 runs off 34 balls before Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy finally see out the match for SRH, who won by 5 wickets to bag their 3rd win of the season.
