Heinrich Klaasen Absent as Cricket South Africa Announce New Central Contract List of Players

Star South African wicketkeeper batter Heinrich Klaasen has been excluded from the new Cricket South Africa (CSA) central contract list which was announced today by the nation’s cricket board. They also named 2 players in hybrid players list.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) today officially announced the list of New Central Contract list of players ahead of the new exciting season. However, the biggest shock from the list was that star wicketkeeper batter Heinrich Klaasen is missing from the list while the likes David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen have been given hybrid contract.

Why Heinrich Klaasen is missing from CSA Contract List?

Klaasen’s absence came as a shock for many cricket fans around the world. The South African wicketkeeper batter retired from Test cricket in January 2024 and was on a white ball only contract.

Regarding Klaasen’s exclusion, CSA sources has stated that there is talks going on about Klaasen’s future and his role in the national team in the next coming years with Heinrich Klaasen now favouring to play in T20 league around the world.

David Miller and Van Der Dussen in Hybrid list

Meanwhile, the duo of David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen have been given hybrid contract. The duo will play in selected tours and ICC events only for the South Africa cricket team. Both the players are currently aged 35 and 36 respectively and are at the near end of their career. Cricket South Africa slowly trying to replace the duo with new names getting opportunity.

A 18 players list includes 3 new faces. Lizaad Williams, Senuran Muthusamy and 18-years-old youngster Kwena Maphaka have been included into the central contract for the first time. Meanwhile the trio of David Bedingham, Wiaan Mulder and Kyle Verreynne have been given an upgrade while an injured Nandre Burger has been retained in the contract list.
