Virat Kohli, a crucial player for India’s T20 World Cup squad, might miss the team’s only warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1 due to a short break he is taking after the IPL.

Similarly, Sanju Samson, captain of the Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya will also be departing later than initially planned. The first group of Indian team players left on Saturday, with a second group scheduled to fly out on Monday.

Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson Didn’t Travel With Indian Team

Kohli, who currently holds the Orange Cap with 741 runs in the IPL, including a century and five half-centuries, played in all 15 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore, culminating in an Eliminator loss to Rajasthan Royals. Samson has cited “personal work in Dubai” as the reason for his delayed departure, which the BCCI has approved.

“Kohli had informed us way beforehand that he would be joining the team late, and that is why the BCCI has kept his visa appointment for a later date. He is expected to fly out to New York in the early morning of May 30th. The BCCI has agreed to his request,” a BCCI official told The Indian Express.

The group of Indian players who left Mumbai on Saturday night includes captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, Axar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and the support staff.
