“I Will Also Be Lifting the World Cup” – Reserve Squad Member Rinku Singh Express His Ambition to Win T20I World Cup After IPL Glory

Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) big-hitting finisher Rinku Singh, brimming with emotion after winning the IPL 2024, declared that his journey of triumph is far from over and expressed his ambition to lift the T20 World Cup next.
The IPL 2024 Final was played at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins who won the toss and opted to bat first. However, his team didn’t get the best start as both openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head were packed inside 3 overs. SRH kept on losing wickets while struggling to score runs. In the end, they could only reach 113 runs.
For KKR, it was Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz who got them over the line. Venkatesh scored 52 runs of 26 balls while Gurbaz played a rather sensible after Sunil Narine was dismissed early. The Afghani batter scored 39 runs of 32 balls as KKR Lifted their 3rd IPL Trophy, first since their second in 2014.

He can't do anything other than praying
Rinku is among the traveling reserves for India’s T20 World Cup squad and was the only player from the contingent to feature in the IPL final. India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York, with a warm-up match against Bangladesh scheduled for June 1.
A Season of Not Many Opportunities for Rinku Singh
Despite a less prolific IPL season compared to last year, with 168 runs from 11 matches, Rinku has remained a valuable player for KKR. His significant contribution last season, where he amassed 474 runs, earned him a spot in the Indian T20I team.
Reflecting on winning his first IPL title, Rinku said, “My dream of seven years is complete. Finally I will lift the trophy. I am proud of my whole team and GG sir. It was God’s plan.”
Rinku Singh Praises Team’s Collective Efforts Behind IPL 2024 Glory
He praised the collective effort of the team and the strategic decisions made by the coach, Gautam Gambhir, especially the move to send Sunil Narine up the order. “You can’t credit just one person because everyone has worked hard. Since GG (Gautam Gambhir) sir came, a lot of things have changed. Sending Sunil early, he batted so well,” he noted.
Rinku also highlighted the impressive performances by his teammates, especially Venkatesh Iyer, who has been in excellent form. “The batters played well, and the bowling was great. Venky (Venkatesh Iyer) has been batting really well for the last five-six matches, so overall, everyone has done really well,” he added.
