For almost three decades, no ICC event has been conducted in Pakistan. The ICC Champions Trophy is the ICC event that is organized in after 1996. Starting from the event, there are so many controversies around the tournament.

During the India vs Bangladesh match in Dubai, the tournament’s official logo was displayed without the name “Pakistan,” which concerned so much speculation on the internet. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has clarified that use is a technical issue.

Why Was ‘Pakistan’ Missing From the Champions Trophy Logo?

Cricket fans over the globe noticed some unusual things during the India vs Bangladesh Group A match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium—the host nation, Pakistan, was missing from the tournament’s official logo. This mistake from the ICC has gone viral on social media and Pakistan has become angry and is questioning the ICC about whether is it a mistake or an intentional move from the ICC.

“The omission was due to a graphics-related technical issue, which will be rectified from tomorrow. It was not possible to change the logo during the match,” the official was quoted as saying by Geo TV.

Champions Trophy 2025: A Tournament Full of Controversies

This year’s Champions Trophy has already faced multiple hurdles and issues before even starting and one of the biggest issues is India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan, citing security concerns.

The BCCI maintains that the Indian government refused to allow the squad to go to Pakistan because to security concerns. All of the other teams in the event agreed to play in Pakistan, but India declined.

Even if Team India advances to the knockout round, they will now play all of their games in Dubai. Another disagreement arose after rumors circulated that Pakistan’s name was removed from India’s Champions Trophy team shirt.

The most-awaited match of Champions Trophy 2025 is India vs Pakistan, which will be played on 23rd February in Dubai. This match will also be the test for ICC and their statement about the technical issue in the logo.

Given the history and political links between the two countries, this is unquestionably the most anticipated match of the championship.

For Pakistan, it will be a do-or-die as they aim to advance to the semi-finals. The Men in Green are now lacking confidence following their defeat to New Zealand in their first encounter in Karachi.
