On Tuesday, October 8, Australian star pacer Megan Schutt made history by becoming the all-time leading wicket-taker in the Women’s T20 World Cup. The 31-year-old achieved this milestone during Australia’s second match of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 against New Zealand at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Schutt took 3 wickets for 3 runs in 3.2 overs, helping her team bowl out the White Ferns for 88 runs in 19.2 overs, with Australia winning by 60 runs. She also earned the Player of the Match award.

Megan Schutt matched the previous record of 43 wickets, held by South African pacer Shabnim Ismail, in Australia’s opening match against Sri Lanka on October 5. She then claimed the top spot for herself during the game against New Zealand by dismissing opener Georgia Plimmer for just 4 runs.
