India Ready for Champions Trophy 2025: Key Insights

The Indian men’s cricket team, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, is gearing up for the Champions Trophy 2025. Scheduled from February 19 to March 9, India will be competing at three venues in Pakistan and one in Dubai. Due to ongoing political tensions, India is set to play all their Group A matches in Dubai.
India enters the tournament as the current No. 1 ranked team in the ICC ODI rankings and shares the record for the most Champions Trophy titles with Australia, having won it twice. Recently, the team demonstrated their strength by securing a 3-0 series victory against England on home soil.
A notable change in the squad is the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who will miss the tournament due to a back injury. Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement. In Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Shami is expected to lead the bowling attack. The squad is a blend of youth and experience, featuring key players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, among others.
This edition of the Champions Trophy could potentially be the last ICC event for veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, marking an end of an era for Indian cricket. Among the players, Shubman Gill is in exceptional form, having scored 87, 60, and 112 runs in the recent series against England, showcasing his readiness to take on the international stage.
India is grouped with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in Group A of the tournament. The team aims to capitalize on their form and strategic prowess to win another ICC title. As the tournament progresses, the spotlight will be on how the team adapts to the conditions in Dubai and how the new players integrate into the existing team dynamics.
