Summary: India won the toss and opted to bat first against Australia. Debutants Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana received their caps from Virat Kohli and Ravi Ashwin. Team India scored 150 runs in the 1st inning.

India captain Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly to take 5 wickets as Australia were all-out for just 104 runs, giving Team India a lead of 46 runs. Team India scored 487 runs in their 2nd inning with centuries from Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, setting Australia a target of 534 runs.

2:45 P.M IST: There we go, century for Virat Kohli. This has been a class batting from Kohli this. And team India have also declared. That is Virat Kohli’s 7th Test century in Australia which just proves his legacy. Kohli remains not out for 100 runs off 143 balls. Team India was waiting for the moment for Kohli to reach his milestone and as soon as he reached here, Jasprit Bumrah and Team India have called for declaration.

2:25 P.M IST: Virat Kohli has also joined the party, going for Sixes and Boundaries. This is clear indication that the declaration is coming soon. India now leads by 500 runs.

2 P.M IST: Team India have 400 runs on the board. Virat Kohli and Washington Sundar are doing a fabulous job so far, forming a partnership of 89 runs. Team India’s lead is now nearing 500 runs.

1:20 P.M IST: Fifty up for the former India captain Virat Kohli. This has been a great inning so far from Virat as he looked mostly in control, with also luck on his side. Washington Sundar has been playing a great supporting role after both Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel departed in quick succession. India’s lead is now nearing 45/ Runs.

Tea Break: Tea break has been called and Virat Kohli and Washington Sundar have done really well to steady the ship after the quick breakthroughs of Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel. Team India have 359 runs on the board after 110 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. The Men in Blue’s lead has now extended over 400 runs.

11:25 A.M IST: And no!!! Yashasvi Jaiswal is gone!!! Australia have the big breakthrough. Mitchell Marsh gets the big breakthrough as Yashasvi Jaiswal is dismissed after a well made 161 runs of 297 balls. He fought hard and gave Team India a great start to the 2nd inning. India sits in comfortably position thanks to his opening stand of over 200 runs with KL Rahul.

11:20 A.M IST: 300 runs is on the board for Team India. This has been a marvelous comeback from the Indian team. They now have double the runs they scored in the first inning. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave a great, Padikkal added handy contributions as Jaiswal aims for the big runs with Virat Kohli supporting him now.

10:58 A.M IST: There it is, massive moment for Yashasvi Jaiswal as he reaches his 150 runs. This has been truly a inning of perfection that has so far had everything that you want to see from a Test cricket batter. After failing in the 1st innings, Jaiswal displayed cool and calm demeanor, remained patience during the tough phases of the inning and now he stands at the top and remain unbeaten for 150 runs.

10:45 A.M IST: We are back underway after the lunch break for the 2nd session. But it is a tough start for the Indian team as Josh Hazlewood strikes first ball of 2nd session to get rid of Devdutt Padikkal.

Balls nicks the outside edge and just about carried to Steve Smith standing on 2nd slip. Padikkal depart after scoring 25 runs of 71 balls. Virat Kohli is the new batter who joins Jaiswal on the crease. Jaiswal himself meanwhile is closing in on his 150 mark.

Lunch Break: That’s it for the first session on day 3 as we head back to the pavilion for lunch break.Team India have looked comfortable throughout the second inning. Although KL Rahul departed early today, Jaiswal scored a magnificent century and is now nearing 150, currently batting on 141.

Devdutt Padikkal has been a playing a brilliant support role so far and looked to play some classic shots as the session came to close. He remains unbeaten and has scored 25 runs of 70 balls. Team India have 275 runs on the board after 84 overs and lead by 321 runs. We will be back soon for the 2nd session post lunch break.

9:48 A.M IST: KL Rahul’s dismissal has not really hurt Team India yet as the duo of Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal is forming a great partnership in the middle. The duo have already added 67 runs partnership. Meanwhile, Team India have already surpassed the 300 runs lead.

Day 3, 9 A.M IST: We are back underway for the third day’s play in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match out of the 5 match series. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul resumed the inning for Team India but the latter departed early today, however, the former has went to score his maiden Test century in Australia. Team India’s has now gone past 250 runs with Devdutt Padikkal joining Jaiswal on the crease.

3:25 P.M IST: That is it for the day, it’s Stumps on Day 2. Team India in really position right now. Both the openers, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have given Team India a solid start to their 2nd inning.

It was more of a watchful start to the inning between the two batters, trying to make sure they don’t lose any further wickets. But, once they settled in, there was no stopping the duo as runs started to flow at a quicker rate. The swing and bounce seemed have lost its way. After all the struggles on the field and of the field before coming to Australia, KL Rahul is truly playing gem of a knock this for Team India. Rahul completes yet another fifty and continues to be there supporting Yashasvi Jaiswal as India look to put a big total on the board for the hosts to chase.

2:00 P.M IST: The great opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul continues to extend. The former has also completed his fifty while KL Rahul is close to one of his own. Team India have got more than 100 runs on the board and the lead has now surpassed 150.

12:32 P.M IST: It’s the end of the 2nd session of the day as Team India is in commanding position now. Both the openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul have started off well. Team India heads back to the pavilion with 84 runs on the board in 26 overs and a lead of 130 runs, most importantly, Team India is survived the most difficult phase of the inning, tackling the new ball in a watchful manner.

9:50 A.M IST: Ohh finally!! India have their man. Harshit Rana dismisses Mitchell Starc to all-out Australia for 104 runs on the board. Mitchell Starc, who came in at number 9, scored 26 runs of 112 balls. He formed a crucial 25 runs partnership with Josh Hazlewood, the biggest so far of Australia’s inning.

Starc top scored for Australia having scored 26 runs. Alex Carey is the 2nd top scorer having scored 21 runs. But, Jasprit Bumrah’s 5 wickets supported teammates Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj’s 3 and 2 wickets each, helped Team India take a 46 runs lead heading into their 2nd inning.

Such has been the match-up this that Australian cricket team’s Mitchell Starc, who is a pace bowler who can contribute handy, is the only batter in this match so far to played 100 balls.

9:25 A.M IST: Day 2 began in Perth with Team India taking two quick wickets. Jasprit Bumrah got Australia’s wicketkeeper batter Alex Carey caught behind to Rishabh Pant. Carey was seem to troubling Team India on Day 1 and Bumrah got him out his first ball of the day. With that, Bumrah completed his five-wicket haul.

That soon followed with Harshit Rana getting the wicket of Nathan Lyon. It was once again a great ball from Harshit, which got an edge from Lyon and it was not a trouble at all for Rahul to grab it in third slip.

Australia have since forged their best partnership of the match for the last wicket. Mitchell Starc has been doing the work while Josh Hazlewood has been supporting him perfectly since coming on.

Day 2, 9:20 A.M IST: The Indian cricket team start the Day 2 action taking two quick wickets. Captain Jasprit Bumrah got the wicket of Alex Carey while Harshit Rana dismissed Nathan Lyon to bag 2nd wicket of his Test career.

Stump, Day 1: It’s stumps time for Day 1 and Australia is still struggling against India. Australia have lost 7 wickets for just 67 runs. Jasprit Bumrah has taken 4 wickets while Mohammed Siraj has 2 wickets to his name. Debutant Harshit Rana has also taken a wickets. At the end of Day 1’s play, Australia is still trailing India by 83 runs.

14:30 P.M IST: Mohammed Siraj has given Australia the fifth blow of the day as KL Rahul completed a brilliant diving catch on the slips to dismiss Mitchell Marsh. Rahul, standing on third slip, dives to his left to complete a low catch after the ball nicked off of Marsh’s bat. Australia now 5 down.

Jasprit Bumrah: We are going to bat first, looks like a good wicket. Very confident with our preparation. We played a Test match here in 2018 so we know what to expect. The wicket gets quicker. Nitish makes his debut. We have 4 quicks and Washi is the lone spinner.
