Indian Cricket Team Announced Squad for Champions Trophy 2025
We are just a month away now from the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 edition which is to be played in Pakistan from 19th February and the final match scheduled on 9th March. Today, the BCCI has officially announced the Indian team squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

3:12 P.M: India captain Rohit Sharma has confirmed that he will be playing in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai starting 23rd January vs Jammu and Kashmir.
3:00 P.M: 1. Big highlights from the squad announcement is that there is no place for in-form Karun Nair in the team. 2. Mohammed Siraj has been dropped. 3. And there is no place for Sanju Samson either.
2:55 P.M: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja. The same squad for both ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and England series. Harshit Rana will play England series in place of Jasprit Bumrah.

2:30 P.M: Remember, the original deadline for squad announcement was 12th January, it’s already 18th January. The squad announcement was scheduled originally at 12:30 P.M but later scheduled to 2 P.M, it’s now 2:30 P.M and the meeting is still on. What could be the long discussion?
2:20 P.M: They say on coverage that the meeting is still on while the announcement was scheduled at 2 P.M.
2:18 P.M: While we wait, there is reportedly debates about the other wicketkeeper slot between Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.
2:10 P.M: Both middle-order batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are set to find a place in the squad as per reports.
2 P.M: The wait continues for the Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to come out for the press-conference. The schedule time for the conference was 2 P.M, but both are yet to arrive at the press-conference room.
The ICC Champions Trophy is making a return after a gap of 7 years since the last edition was played in 2017 in England, which Pakistan won to earn the rights to host the next edition of the tournament, which is the 2025 edition.
Top 8 teams from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 are eligible to play in the tournament, includes host Pakistan, Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. All 8 teams have been divided into 2 groups of 4.
And now with just 1 month, away, we have the Indian cricket team squad announced today by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma in an official press-conference.
Despite Rohit Sharma’s horrid form in the red ball cricket, Sharma will continue as the captain of the Indian team despite many questions raised. Star batter Virat Kohli has also undoubtedly made it to the squad. Jasprit Bumrah is going to be Team India’s lead bowler in the tournament.
Pace bowler Mohammed Shami is back in the team for the first time since suffering an injury in the 2023 World Cup. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked in the ODI team for the first time after his brilliant performance in the other two formats he has played in.
