Indian Cricketers Shine with ICC Awards in Dubai

In a significant event held in Dubai on February 17, members of the Indian cricket team were honored with their ICC Awards and the prestigious Team of the Year caps. This ceremony not only celebrated individual excellence but also set the stage for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Among the players recognized, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were named in the ICC’s T20I Team of the Year for 2024. Rohit Sharma, who played a pivotal role in leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies, was appointed as the captain of this distinguished team. His outstanding performance in the series, accumulating 378 runs across 11 matches with an impressive strike rate exceeding 160, underscores his caliber as a top-tier player.
Hardik Pandya also made noteworthy contributions during the 2024 T20I season, amassing 352 runs and securing 16 wickets in 17 matches. Such performances have cemented his position as a key all-rounder in the team. Arshdeep Singh further elevated the team’s status with his exceptional bowling, taking 36 wickets in 18 T20I matches, earning him the prestigious title of ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah, renowned for his bowling prowess, joined Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in the ICC T20I Team of the Year, further highlighting India’s dominance in cricket. Bumrah’s contributions were not limited to the T20I format; he also secured a spot in the ICC Test Team of the Year 2024 alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who distinguished himself with 527 runs and 48 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal was another Indian player included in the Test Team of the Year, reinforcing the strength of Indian cricket across formats.
Looking forward, Team India is set to compete in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Placed in Group A, India will face off against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Their campaign will commence with a match against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by a high-stakes game against Pakistan on February 23, and a concluding group match against New Zealand on March 2, all staged at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
India’s squad for the upcoming tournament includes esteemed players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul among others, providing a robust lineup geared for success. Additionally, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube have been named as non-traveling reserves for the tournament, ready to step in as needed.
