The 18th season of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025, kicks off with the fifth match between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 7:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time (IST).

Shreyas Iyer, the IPL 2024 winning captain, was purchased for an enormous amount in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction and will lead the club this season, while Ricky Ponting, the former Delhi Capitals coach, has been named as head coach.

The team has some powerful batters, including Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis. They have a solid bowling attack with Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson as the top bowlers. Yuzvendra Chahal will be a key part of the Punjab Kings‘ lineup this season.

Opening Pair

Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis will do the opening job for Punjab Kings. Both are known for their aggressive batting style, which will give them a solid start. Josh Inglis is way to making his IPL debut. In the recent ICC Champions Trophy, he was in good form and PBKS management is hoping that he will carry his momentum in the IPL also.

The young wicketkeeper batter Prabhsimran Singh has been part of the franchise since his debut in 2019. The last two seasons were very good for him; he played 28 matches in the last two years, where he scored 692 runs, including 1 century and 3 half-centuries. And last season his strike rate was 156, which is also an amazing part of this batting style.

Shreyas Iyer at NO.3

Shreyas Iyer, the new captain of the Punjab Kings, who was the captain of the defending champions KKR last year, is brought by Punjab Kings with huge money. His recent ICC Champions Trophy tournament has gone amazing and he is looking forward to continuing this form. Last season he scored 351 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 146 and managed to score two half-centuries.

Middle Order

Glenn Maxwell is known for power-hitting and all-around ability. Last season was bad for him; he played 10 matches, scored only 52 runs, and took 6 wickets. He will be looking for an improved season in his rejoining with Punjab

Marcus Stoinis, the Australian all-rounder known for his aggressive batting and good medium-pace bowling, last year he scored 228 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 147 and took four wickets.

Shashank Singh was part of PBKS last season, where he played some match-winning innings. Last year he scored 354 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 164, including two half-centuries.

Marco Jansen the South African bowling all-rounder is known for his bowling but he can bat as well. His T20I batting strike rate is 149 which is very amazing. Last year he was part of SRH, where he played only 3 matches and took 1 wicket. He will be a great finisher for Punjab Kings.

Bowlers

Harpreet Brar has been part of PBKS since his debut in 2019. Last year he played some good matches where he took 7 wickets in 13 matches. He could be a good spin-bowling option for the Punjab Kings.

Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the greatest bowlers in IPL. He doesn’t need any introduction; he is one of the most expensive signings in the IPL 2025 auction. He spent his last three seasons with Rajasthan Royals, where he saw one of the best performers. Last year he played 15 matches and took 18 wickets.

Kuldeep Sen is joined PBKS after spending three seasons with RR. In the past three years, he played 12 matches and took 14 wickets. He is hoping that he gets more chances and proves himself more.

India T20 squad’s regular star, Arshdeep Singh, continues his 7th season with PBKS. he is one of the important players for the Punjab Kings. He played 65 matches in IPL and took 76 wickets. Last year he played 14 matches and took 19 wickets.

Impact Player

The young all-rounder could be a greater option as an impact player. His recent domestic matches seem very good; he will be looking forward to continuing his momentum in IPL 2025.
