It’s time for the first of several double-header weekends in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League, or IPL 2025. The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will play their first encounter on Sunday. The afternoon game will begin at 3:30 p.m. IST at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

Riyan Parag will lead the Rajasthan Royals in this match, with regular captain Sanju Samson appearing as a batter only while recovering from an injury.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and will do the opening job for the Rajasthan Royals. Both players are known for their quality and consistency in their batting. Jaiswal has been part of this team since his debut in the IPL in the year of 2020. On the other hand, Sanju Samson was the captain of Rajasthan Royals last year. He rejoined RR in 2018, and since then he has been a consistent performer for the team. Last year he scored 531 runs in 15 innings with a strike rate of 153 and five half-centuries.

Nitish Rana at NO. 3

Nitish Rana was one of the most consistent players for KKR in recent years, but last season he didn’t get enough chances to perform. In 2024 he played only 2 matches and scored only 42 runs. Hopefully, he will get enough chances to play in this season and deliver some amazing performances.

Middle-order

Riyan Parag is the new captain for this match; he has the all-round ability, which will be crucial for winning tough matches. In IPL 2024 he played 14 innings and scored 573 runs with 4 half-centuries and a strike rate of 149.

Dhruv Jurel (WK) can play as an anchor man for this team; he also has power-hitting ability if the team needs him. Last year he scored 195 runs along with 2 half-centuries.

Shimron Hetmyer was retained by the RR franchise in the IPL 2025 auction. He brings vast experience from several T20 leagues around the world. He is known for his power-hitting and aggressive batting. Last year was not a great season for him but he will be looking for a great comeback this year.

Shubham Dubey will be a good Indian middle-order option for RR; last season he was also part of this franchise but did not get many chances to play. This season he will be looking forward to playing some amazing innings.

Bowlers

Wanindu Hasaranga will bring a lot of experience with him in the team. He can be a crucial player for the franchise this year with his all-round ability.

Jofra Archer, the English pace bowler, is rejoining the team after two seasons. He did not play in last season, but his last season with RR in 2020/21 was a wonderful season, where he took 20 wickets in 14 matches.

Maheesh Theekshana is known for his great spin bowling. For the last three seasons, he was part of CSK, where he took 25 wickets in 27 matches.

Sandeep Sharma has been part of this franchise for the last two seasons. He is known for his slow bowls and variation. In the last two seasons, he played 23 matches and took 23 wickets.

Tushar Deshpande will be a great impact player for RR while chasing the target. He has a variety of bowling skills, and he improved a lot under CSK. He took 38 wickets in the last two seasons playing for Chennai Super Kings.
