While the Men in Blue in the West Indies giving their best to win their 2nd ever T20 World Cup, Team India’s squad for the upcoming 5 match T20I series is likely to announced on June 23 and there is much excitement for the announcement given many top performers from IPL 2024 likely to be given a chance.

Since winning the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 under the leadership of a new captain MS Dhoni, Team India has not tasted the success again. They came close a number of times, the closest in 2014, but have failed to add another Trophy in the shortest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma led Indian cricket team is very much the favourite to qualify for the Semi-Finals. The Men in Blue topped their group in the group stage phase of the tournament and has already began its Super Eight phase with a win over Afghanistan.

But, while the Men in Blue chases the 2nd ever T20 World Cup trophy, there is already much excitement about India’s squad for the upcoming series vs Zimbabwe, that is to be played from 6th July. Many top performers from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is likely to given an opportunity.

Rinku Singh who missed out on the World Cup spot, will be very much back in the team. Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, other players who are at the World Cup as reserve players, are also likely to be included.

IPL 2024 stars like Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav are also likely to be included in the team for the Zimbabwe series, which might see the National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman as the interim head coach while BCCI is still to finalize a new head coach after Rahul Dravid’s contract expire after the T20 World Cup 2024 assignment.

India Tour of Zimbabwe

The India tour of Zimbabwe will begin from 6th July and a total of 5 T20I matches will be played as part of the series. All the matches in the series will be at the Harare Sports Club Stadium in Harare with all the matches to start from 4:30 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST).
