India’s cricket team is gearing up for a packed schedule following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. One of the key highlights is the five-match away Test series against England, which marks the beginning of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. The series is scheduled to kick off from June 21 and conclude on August 4, 2025. This series offers India an opportunity to end a longstanding winless streak in Test series played in England, which has persisted since 2007.

Following the Test series, India’s itinerary for the 2025 season includes the Asia Cup in September. This tournament, adopting the T20 format, will serve as a prelude to India’s co-hosting duties for the T20 World Cup 2026 alongside Sri Lanka. India will aim to defend their title at home in this prestigious event.

The 2024-25 season posed challenges for India, culminating in defeats during key Test series against both New Zealand and Australia. In light of these experiences, the team management might appoint a new Test captain before embarking on the upcoming season.

In August 2025, India will tour Bangladesh for a series comprising 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is. The West Indies are scheduled to visit India in October 2025 for 2 Test matches. Additionally, in October and November 2025, India will tour Australia to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. This comprehensive schedule continues with a visit from South Africa in November and December 2025, where they will compete in 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 5 T20Is against India.

January 2026 will witness New Zealand visiting India, offering fans a chance to see 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. After co-hosting the T20 World Cup 2026, India will face Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series at home in June 2026. In July 2026, India will travel to England again for a three-match ODI series. The cricket season concludes with a home ODI series against the West Indies in September-October 2026.

Over the next 12 months, the Indian team is set to play a total of 9 Test matches, 12 ODIs, and 18 T20Is, in addition to 27 ODI matches in preparation for the ODI World Cup 2027.
