Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have received an unexpected morale boost ahead of their crucial Qualifier 1 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2024. Renowned Bayern Munich and England Football Team striker Harry Kane sent a special video message to the KKR team, extending their best wishes for the high-stakes encounter.

“Hey Kolkata Knight Riders, a great start to the season. Wishing all the Knights the very best for the remainder of the season. Sending our support from FC Bayern Munich,” Kane said in a video message shared on Kolkata Knight Riders’ social media handle.

KKR concluded the league stage with 20 points from nine wins, supplemented by two points from washouts. SRH secured 17 points, edging past Rajasthan Royals (RR) by virtue of a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.414 compared to RR’s 0.273.

The highly anticipated clash between KKR and SRH is set to unfold in Ahmedabad tonight, followed by the ‘Eliminator’ showdown between RR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the same venue on Wednesday, May 22.

KKR boasts explosive batting power with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine, supported by solid performers like Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana. Their bowling attack, led by Mitchell Starc’s pace and Varun Chakravarthy’s spin, is formidable.

SRH, on the other hand, rely on Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen for batting firepower, while Pat Cummins leads their bowling unit, supported by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan.

As for the weather forecast, clear skies are anticipated with no rain expected. However, it is essential to note that there is a reserve day scheduled for Qualifier 1 in case of a washout.
