Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to clash with Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024 Eliminator at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22.

Rajasthan Royals shared points with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last league match due to persistent rain in Guwahati, finishing with 17 points. However, they lagged behind Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) due to a lower Net Run Rate (NRR).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured the fourth spot by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs in their final league match. RCB needed to win by at least 18 runs to surpass CSK’s NRR and secure their place in the playoffs.

Earlier this season, on April 6, RR defeated RCB by six wickets. The winner of the IPL 2024 Eliminator will move on to Qualifier 2, where they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in Qualifier 1. Whereas the losing side in the Eliminator will be out of the IPL 2024 Playoffs completely.

RR vs RCB Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad Pitch Report

“The outfield is green and lush. The square boundaries are 63 meters each, while it is 70 meters down the ground. The pitch looks a bit dry, favouring bowlers who use off-pace deliveries. There’s some moisture around the good-length area, but it’s hard. Power-hitters will have an advantage here; it seems like a good batting wicket with minimal spin,” said Matthew Hayden before the KKR vs SRH IPL 2024 Qualifier 1.

In that match, SRH chose to bat first after winning the toss but were all out for 159 in 19.3 overs, with KKR’s pacers taking six wickets and their spinners three. KKR chased the target in just 13.4 overs, losing only two wickets, both to pacers.

The average total at this venue in the last five T20s is 176. Teams winning the toss have chosen to bat first 75% of the time in the past five years.
