Bollywood actress Preity Zinta owned Punjab Kings’ wait for glory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has to wait for another year as the team once again failed to reach the IPL Playoffs after finishing 9th in the league stage, just ahead of Mumbai Indians.

Punjab Kings became the 2nd team to be knocked out of the IPL 2024 after the team’s season was marred by its top players not in touch throughout the season. Key player Jonny Bairstow struggled the whole season while captain Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t do much either and was ruled out due to injury just after a few matches.

Shashank has finished the season as the top run scorer for the Punjab Kings with 354 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 164 playing in the middle-order. Opening batter Prabsimran Singh is 2nd in the list with 334 runs. He looked good on occasion, but couldn’t maintain a consistent run-scoring flow. Jonny Bairstow is 3rd with 298 runs in 11 matches but it was a rather underwhelming season for the Englishman, much of his runs came against KKR where he scored a match-winning century. Sam Curran and Rilee Russouw are next with 270 and 211 runs respectively.

Harshal Patel ends the season as the most wicket-taker in the league before the playoffs phase. Harshal has taken 24 wickets but was expensive mostly throughout the tournament. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is 2nd highest wicket-taker for Punjab Kings with 19 wickets. Sam Curran, who led the team in most of the matches, took 16 wickets with Kagiso Rabada having quite an underwhelming season, taking only 11 wickets in 11 matches while Rahul Chahar is next in the list with 10 wickets from 9 matches.
