A total of 147 players have been released by the franchises, including 86 Indian and 61 overseas players. Before the auction begins, each team will be on the lookout for fresh talent to build their new squads.

From Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), IPL teams are looking to release players who have not performed well in recent seasons. However, history shows that players released by teams like RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS) often go on to perform exceptionally well with other franchises. Delhi Capitals (DC) Released Players

Delhi Capitals will release 15 players, comprising seven Indian and eight overseas players. Among the Indian players, notable names like Prithvi Shaw, Yash Dhull, Abhishek Porel, Kumar Kushagra, Lalit Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Khaleel Ahmed may shown the door. As for the overseas contingent, DC will release Shai Hope, Harry Brook, Tristan Stubbs, Mitchell Marsh, Gulbadin Naib, Anrich Nortje, Jhye Richardson, and Luke Williams.

The release of these players, especially experienced ones like Mitchell Marsh and Anrich Nortje, may raise eyebrows among fans. As of now, there is still no confirmation on whether David Warner will be retained.

Gujarat Titans (GT) Released Players

Gujarat Titans are set to release 16 players, including 10 Indian and six overseas players, ahead of the 2025 IPL season. The Indian players expected to be released include Wriddhiman Saha, Abhinav Manohar, Vijay Shankar, Darshan Nalkande, Shahrukh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Kartik Tyagi, and Umesh Yadav.

Kolkata Knight Riders are set to release 13 players ahead of the 2025 season, including nine Indian and four overseas players. Among the Indian releases are Nitish Rana, Manish Pandey, KS Bharat, A Raghuwanshi, Anukul Roy, Venkatesh Iyer, Sandeep Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Vaibhav Arora.

The four overseas players expected to be released are Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sherfane Rutherford, Dushmantha Chameera, and Mitchell Starc. Starc’s release may come as a surprise to fans, reportedly due to KKR’s hesitation to meet his high salary demands.

Mumbai Indians (MI) Released Players

Mumbai Indians are expected to release 16 players ahead of the 2025 IPL season, with an equal split of eight Indian and eight overseas players. Among the Indian players, the most surprising release will be Rohit Sharma, along with Arjun Tendulkar, Nihal Dheriya, Shams Mulani, Kumar Karthikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, and Shreyas Gopal.

The overseas players likely to be released are Dewald Brevis, Mohammad Nabi, Romario Shepherd, Luke Wood, Obed McCoy, Tim David, and Nuwan Thushara. The team appears to be moving towards a new captaincy under Hardik Pandya.
