The IPL 2025 might begin soon, as the BCCI considers publishing a new schedule despite a brief India-Pakistan peace. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will initiate high-level talks with the central government and other stakeholders to determine the best time period for the IPL 2025 relaunch.

This season, 16 games remain to be played, four of which are playoffs. As the Indian Premier League is a national-interest event, the BCCI hopes to align its judgment with that of the governing body of India.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will commence on May 16 or 17, following the ceasefire pact along the India-Pakistan border. The first match upon resumption shall be between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), instead of the abandoned game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala.

IPL Final New Date

The competition final, originally slated for May 25, is now expected to be played on the evening of May 30 (Friday). There are twelve league-stage matches remaining, plus the four playoff games. Hyderabad was supposed to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator originally, and Kolkata was supposed to host Qualifier 2 and the Final.

A previous report by ESPNcricinfo had reported that the BCCI has shortlisted M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad as likely venues to host the remaining 16 matches in case IPL 2025 restarts later this month.

The BCCI has already requested all the teams except Punjab Kings to arrive at their respective venues by Tuesday so that it can restart the IPL by Friday. The BCCI has also requested the franchises to apprise their foreign players of their traveling schedule.

Most of the foreign players and support staff departed for their homes on Friday following the official suspension of the IPL by the BCCI. The franchises are now arranging their return.
