IPL 2025 GT: Gujarat Titans Latest Released and Retained Players List

Gujarat Titans (GT) made their debut in the Indian Premier League in 2022. Hardik Pandya was picked to lead the team, and he led them to the title in their debut season. GT made to the final of the 2023 edition as well but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the final. However, in 2024, GT traded Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians and appointed Shubman Gill as their new captain.
But it didn’t work out well, as they finished seventh on the table. Hence, the franchise needs to make some big decisions ahead of the IPL 2025. There is a mega auction scheduled for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, and all the teams will have to release most of their players after retaining a maximum of six players.
Those six retentions will include two Right To Match (RTM) cards. GT has made Gill the captain as they are looking to keep a young side. However, there are few big names in the team that might be released. Will Gill be retained as the captain or not? . In this article, we will talk about the players whom GT can retain and the list of released players ahead of the IPL 2025.
IPL 2025 Gujarat Titans (GT): Possible Retention
Player | Role |
Shubman Gill | Batter |
Sai Sudharsan | Batter |
Rashid Khan | Bowler |
David Miller | Batter |
Mohammad Shami | Bowler |
Rahul Tewatia | All-rounder |
1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has been the run machine for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL. He has been their highest scorer in the tournament. Gill has already scored 1799 runs in just three seasons that he has played for the franchise at an average and strike rate of 44.97 and 147.70, respectively. He has also scored four centuries and ten half-centuries for them.
Gill is considered the next captain for India, so the franchise might not release him and keep him as the captain of the IPL 2025 as well. Apart from captaincy, Gill gives a solidity at the top of the order with the bat, which is another reason to retain him for the IPL 2025.
2. Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is one of the most demanded names in franchise cricket history. The Afghan superstar has been the best T20 legspinner and has already achieved a lot at such a young age. Getting him back at the auction can be challenging; hence, Gujarat Titans might not take a risk to release him for the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Rashid is the leading wicket-taker for the franchise. He has taken 56 wickets at an economy rate of 7.67, and his ability to contribute with the bat makes him a perfect guy to have in your team. That’s why Rashid will be one of the first-choice retentions for the franchise.
3. Sai Sudharsan

The Tamil Nadu youngster has been a find for Gujarat Titans in the final. Since he made his debut, he has grabbed all the opportunities with both hands. He has cemented his place at the top of the order with his consistent performances.
He was the leading scorer for them in 2024. In 25 games, he has scored 1034 runs at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 139.16, with one hundred and six half-centuries. Sai has been scoring runs at domestic tournaments as well. So, he is likely to be retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
4. David Miller

The veteran South African star has become a key member of the team since he joined. He was the one that hit the winning runs in the final of the 2022 edition. He has been a consistent scorer down the order and has changed the game through his powerhitting. The left-hander missed a few games last season, but he is fit to go.
Miller brings his finishing and match-winning ability down the order, which is very difficult to find. His experience is great, and he is likely to be retained as a second overseas pick. Miller has played 41 matches so far and scored 950 runs at 45.23 and a strike rate of 145.25, with three half-centuries.
5. Mohammed Shami

Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami missed the IPL 2024 action as he was injured, but he will be fit for the IPL 2025. Shami is one of the best Indian bowlers in the circuit, and his experience is unmatchable. With his ability, a number of teams will love to have him on their side.
Shami has played 33 games for GT and taken 48 wickets at an economy rate of 8.01. He is an improved T20 bowler, and on Indian pitches, he can do wonders. Hence, Gujarat Titans might look to use the Right To Match (RTM) card on him during the IPL 2025 mega auction to get him back.
6. Rahul Tewatia

This will be a big decision for Gujarat Titans because there are a few names whom they want to retain or get back. Rahul Tewatia can be the one on whom the franchise can use the RTM card at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Tewatia has been a key player for the franchise when it comes to crunch moments.
His cool and calm head has helped the team go past some big-pressure moments, and that is why rare ability in a player. Hence, he is likely to get a nod ahead of the other players. Tewatia has played 45 matches and scored 492 runs in 31 innings at a strike rate close to 150.
