The much-anticipated IPL 2025 season is set to commence with an exciting match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22 at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium. This opening game promises to set the tone for what is expected to be an exhilarating season of cricket.

For the season opener, KKR has a historical advantage over RCB at this venue, having triumphed over them eight times out of their twelve encounters at Eden Gardens. However, the dynamics for this year could see changes with Rajat Patidar taking the helm as RCB’s new captain. Meanwhile, KKR has yet to announce their new captain following the departure of Shreyas Iyer, adding an element of surprise to their strategy.

The IPL 2025 season will consist of matches played across 12 venues, including each team’s home ground, along with matches hosted in Dharamsala and Guwahati. Additionally, notable changes include Shreyas Iyer transitioning to Punjab Kings (PBKS) as their captain, supported by Ricky Ponting as head coach. The Punjab Kings will play across multiple venues, with four matches scheduled at their new home ground in Mullanpur Stadium and three in Dharamsala.
