Several reports indicate that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended indefinitely as of Friday due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Official confirmation regarding the league’s future is expected soon. It has been reported that a meeting is currently taking place within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), prompted by security concerns raised by foreign players participating in the tournament. Many of the cricketers are reportedly uncomfortable with the situation, according to a report in the Times of India

The BCCI has been in discussions since last night, exploring all possible options. It is understood that the Indian cricket board doesn’t want the league to continue, considering the current sentiment of the nation. Additionally, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also want to return home from Lucknow – the venue of tonight’s match vs Lucknow Super Giants. The move came a day after the fixture between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was postponed. So far, no information has been given by the BCCI officials regarding the future of the tournament. Earlier, the match between PBKS and the Mumbai Indians was relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad due to the government’s decision to close airspace in Dharamsala and nearby areas. After PBKS vs DC was called off, both teams returned to their hotel. The entire contingent, alongside officials and broadcast crew, is scheduled to leave Dharamsala on a special train on May 9.
