The craze is abuzz for the upcoming IPL 2025 Mega Auction and while the fans of every team awaits the long-awaited update on the retention number, there is already much debate going on about which player is likely to go where. Amid all that, Ravichandran Ashwin is linked with a return back to MS Dhoni‘s Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

For the unaware, Ravichandran Ashwin began his IPL career with the Chennai Super Kings and garnered much worldwide reputation while representing the yellow army.

Today, Ashwin is recognised as one of the best finger spinner in the world right now. He has been a vital cog for the Indian team in all formats and continues to be in Test cricket. Ashwin has also had a lavish career in the IPL.

The Tamil Nadu player spend a total of 8 years with his home team before he was released and signed by Rising Pune Supergiant. He then played for the Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and is now with the Rajasthan Royals.

With IPL 2025 Mega Auction coming, Ashwin is likely to be released by Rajasthan. This could be a great opportunity as CSK is looking for a possible homecoming. According to a latest report by Revsportz, CSK officialls are interested in bringing back Ashwin to his home franchise.

This link is further strengthen by the fact that Ashwin was most recently made in-charge of the CSK High Performance Centre in June and CEO Kasi Vishwanathan expressed the idea of Ashwin returning to the team.

Other than the former hero returning back to the den, the Chennai Super Kings, according to the same report on Revsportz, is also looking at the possibility of signing in case the pace bowler don’t find a place in Gujarat Titans’ retentions list.

Mohammed Shami has been for a long time holding the fort for the Indian cricket team alongside Jasprit Bumrah. Shami had an interesting IPL career so far. He began his journey with his home team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2013. He spent four years at Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils) between 2014 and 2018.

The 34-years-old also played for the Punjab Kings between 2019 and 2021 before he finally joined the new boys in the league and his current team Gujarat Titans in 2022.
