The hosts, Gujarat Titans (GT) face the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 9 of the 18th Indian Premier League, IPL 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The contest will take place on Saturday, January 29th, at 7:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time.

Both sides are coming off losses in their first matches and want to gain confidence with a win today. Gujarat Titans lost a hard-fought game against the Punjab Kings in the season opener. After getting the target of 243 runs, they came close but lost by 11 runs. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians lost their opening match against their arch-rival, Chennai Super Kings.

Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians’ usual captain, returns for this match after completing his slow over-rate punishment from last season against CSK. With the Ahmedabad surface favoring hitters, unlike in Chennai, this might be a serious test for Mumbai Indians batsmen.

They have some outstanding hitters, like Rohit Sharma, Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ryan Rickelton. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma can serve as an anchor, keeping the inning going.

Mumbai’s spin department will put the Gujarat Titans’ batsmen to the test as well. The five-time champions include Mitchell Santner and Vignesh Puthur, a teenager who excelled in his first outing by grabbing three wickets for 32 runs in four overs. Watch out for him for the next IPL matches.
