Mumbai Indians: The excitement for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League has increased since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a big announcement for the retention rule. The BCCI has increased the purse value, and every team will have 120 crore to rebuild their team. A team can retain up to six players.

It can be a mix of four retentions or two through the Right to Match (RTM) card or as a franchise wants. Meanwhile, as announced, every franchise must retain one uncapped player, which can include a retired player who has been away from international cricket for five years or more. All these rules have made the IPL 2025 mega auction more thrilling now.

If a team will retain five players, it will cost them INR 75 crore, and they will be left with 45 crore to sign other players at the auction. Players unlikely to be retained
